Privacy Policy

QuillDesk is built to touch as little of your data as possible. This page describes everything the app and this website collect. Last updated: August 9, 2026.

Your text

• On the free trial and the Cloud plan, the text you submit is sent to our server and forwarded to OpenAI to generate the improved version. We do not store your text — only token counts, used for quota accounting.
• On the Lifetime plan, requests go directly from your Mac to OpenAI using your own API key. Our servers never see your text.
• Your writing is never used to train models by us. OpenAI processes API requests under its own API data usage policies.

Device identifier

• To enforce the trial period and device limits, the app sends an anonymous device identifier: a salted SHA-256 hash of the hardware UUID. The raw UUID never leaves your Mac, and the hash cannot be traced back to you or your hardware.
• Alongside it we store the platform, app version, trial dates, and usage counts.

Purchases

• Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh) as the merchant of record. We never see your card details.
• To deliver your activation key or license we store the email address and order information Polar shares with us. License emails are sent via Resend.

Analytics and crash reports

• On the trial and Cloud plans the app sends anonymous usage events (e.g. “improve requested”, chosen style) via Aptabase and crash reports via Sentry. These never contain your text, email, license keys, or device identifiers.
• On the Lifetime plan analytics and crash reporting are never initialized — the app makes no background network requests to us at all.

This website

• No cookies, no analytics, no trackers.
• Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and the site is hosted on Railway; both may see your IP address as part of serving the request. Our server uses IP addresses transiently for rate limiting and does not store them.
